Since summer 2021, the DIEDRICH Wellnesshotel & Spa has been a hotel with an outdoor pool. Heated and with a picturesque view: The swimming pool is designed as an infinity pool where you can enjoy the view of the valley for many hours of the day and where the sun shines for a long time.
Why we need an outdoor pool
For many people, water is simply part of their vacation in the warm months - and we can understand that. It's too nice to listen to the lapping of the water while lingering in the sun, to watch the sun reflecting in the cool water or to refresh yourself in the water after sunbathing. No wonder that many see the pool as the heart of the wellness hotel in summer. Here, summer days can be enjoyed particularly well as the temperature rises.
Look out over the edge of the infinity pool and relax
The 20-meter x 5-meter infinity pool rises four meters above the existing hotel building and offers special bathing experiences. From the edge of the infinity pool you can look out into the Hallenberg valley and enjoy the rising sun - pure romance. Around the pool you will find a cozy spot where you can take advantage of the beautiful weather in the Hochsauerland even more relaxed - both in the shade and in the sun.

We want to be a wellness hotel that makes you feel good - at any time of year. According to our holistic approach to wellness, an outdoor pool and other sunbathing options in the fresh air are still missing. We want to do justice to the four pillars of wellness - nutrition, exercise, relaxation and social and emotional well-being - all year round and create feel-good spaces that invite you to discover and linger. The spa extension therefore not only includes the heated outdoor infinity pool and the spa terrace, but also the sauna area, the spa bistro and the fitness area. The aim behind this: A wide range of relaxation options for guests. As individual as each guest is, so too are their needs for comprehensive relaxation.

We love what we do. Our hotel, our everyday life, our region. Especially in winter, the Sauerland is popular with many guests for a wellness vacation. So images of snowy landscapes quickly come to mind here. Nothing suits this better than a relaxing break in the warmth. Let your gaze wander from the heated outdoor pool into the coolness of winter, enjoy the pleasant heat in the sauna or dine finely to the crackling of the fireplace. However, what many do not know - it is also beautiful here in the warm months.
Here in the Hochsauerland there are many lush green meadows where horses, sheep and cows graze contentedly. There are gentle mountains that are sometimes strenuous to climb, but from many places offer a beautiful view of the Sauerland. Hiking routes mark the landscape and give an impression of the diversity of the region. All around there are lakes, such as the Edertalsperre, the Hillebachsee or the Weddelsee. All of them attract with their own advantages - with water sports, as an idyllic fishing paradise, with a beach or with picturesque shores. There are sights, monuments and living culture. Just think of the open-air stage, where the Passion of Christ is also performed every ten years, the small ice museum or the Kump with its interesting exhibitions in the town center. And by that we mean an opportunity for you to enjoy the cool water in the fresh air on beautiful days while the sun pampers your skin. To watch the sun rise in the morning and let yourself float in the water. To take a fresh shower after a strenuous hike and then go for a gentle swim. Or simply to lie outside and relax and consciously enjoy the time. We would like to fulfill this wish for our guests all year round with the new, heated pool at the wellness hotel.
Your wellness vacation in the hotel with heated indoor and outdoor pool
At the DIEDRICH Wellnesshotel & Spa, the hotel's focus is on wellness, so relaxing moments are the order of the day - exactly how it feels best for you. For this reason, there are various retreats, cozy corners and lots to discover in our wellness hotel.
The wellness area includes a light-flooded indoor pool, which in its appearance is somewhat reminiscent of a Roman thermal bath and which we therefore affectionately call a column bath. On two levels around the indoor pool you have the opportunity to choose your favorite lounger and relax here - with a view to the outside.
Hotel with heated outdoor pool and extended sauna facilities
In addition to the swimming pool, the sauna area includes a Finnish panorama sauna with a large window, another Finnish sauna, a steam bath and a Tecaldarium. Brand new (since November 2021) are our pine wood sauna, also with a view to the outside, as well as our snow grotto, where you can cool down perfectly - perfect on hot days or after a sweaty sauna session. Here you will experience every temperature in a new way. In addition, there is a large lounge area between sauna sessions, as well as a rest area where you can enjoy the reflections of the water from the pool above through a round peephole made of glass. An incomparable feeling of space that has a decelerating effect with its gentleness. But the heated outdoor pool is probably the most impressive innovation in the wellness area - and also the one that is best seen from the outside. Here you can relax and enjoy the moment on hot summer days. The pool is heated, so the water temperature from the infinity pool is always pleasant and also invites you to swim in the heated water all year round.
Pampering the body - active and passive
Exercise - or at least a range of exercise - is also part of a wellness vacation. Power up in our fitness room, take part in yoga or meditation courses in our Haus der Mitte or fitness offers in the new large fitness room. All course rooms are bright and have windows, so that you are additionally motivated by the sun during morning sports or do not have to do without the light of the colorful twilight in the evening.
Of course, you can still pamper your body with an treatment. Whether a relaxing massage, a soothing facial care or an Ayurvedic ritual: Here it is effortless to enjoy the moment and gain distance from everyday life. In our treatments, we rely on natural cosmetics that do your body lasting good.
Pleasure with all senses
Delicious food is also indispensable during your vacation in Hochsauerland. For this, take a seat in our restaurant, which is divided into different areas. Discover the area "Alte Post", "Poststübchen" or the "Antons", which are all decorated in earthy tones. In the cozy Stammhaus Restaurant we serve our half-board menu. Fine dining - and striving to meet the culinary desires of our guests - has always been a high priority for us. Whether it's with your girlfriends, your buddies, or a romantic dinner with your sweetheart, we do everything we can to make you feel completely at home.

For you, a hearty breakfast is always part of the perfect start to the day? We understand, because we feel the same way. That's why you can enjoy your breakfast with us every day until 11:30 a.m. - ideal for late risers. Enjoy a wide selection of fresh products from the region - coffee from nearby Medebach (17 km), bread from Sachsenberg (15 km) and delicious jam from Gemünden (31 km). Treat yourself to a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice in the morning, a sparkling wine to toast a new day's vacation and delicious fruit to keep you fit and alert.

Far away from everyday life, but not so far away at all
The DIEDRICH Wellnesshotel & Spa is located in the idyllic half-timbered town of Hallenberg, the second smallest municipality in North Rhine-Westphalia. Time passes a little slower here; it's easy to get away from it all. Despite its location, the hotel can be reached quickly from many cities. It only takes around 1.5 hours to drive from Dortmund and Paderborn to our hotel, and around 2.5 hours from Düsseldorf and Cologne. The best thing: even the journey through the winding roads of the Sauerland feels like a vacation...
