Our 65 rooms and suites in Hallenberg are spread across four sections of the building—which have been added over time since 1898. First select the side of the building, then the section, bathroom, and amenities—this will help you find the right category.

Street side or valley side?

The B 236 runs west of the hotel—which is why we start by asking which side of the building you’d like your room on. Rooms facing the street look west toward the highway and the hotel’s parking lot in front of it; it’s a short walk to your car, and the view is of the town rather than the countryside. Rooms facing the valley are set back from the highway and look east across the built-up Hallenberg valley into the countryside—pastures, a working farm, the hills of the Sauerland: a return to the countryside.

Four sections of the building, added over time since 1898

The original building (1898) is where it all began, with rooms facing both the street and the valley: ranging from the simplest rooms in the hotel—with bathrooms dating from the 1980s—to the premium rooms with exposed half-timbering and oak floors.

The Mühlenflügel (1984) is located on the south side of the complex, with rooms on both sides: the double rooms feature oak floors, and each bathroom has a rain shower; the valley-facing side overlooks the valley across the restaurant’s green roof.

To the north is the Lichtflügel (2007), offering everything from compact rooms to the Panorama Suite, the hotel's largest room category; each bathroom features a floor-level rain shower.

The Garden Wing (2021) is the newest part of the building: ten rooms facing the valley, each with its own balcony and all air-conditioned.

Beyond the east- and south-facing windows lies the built-up valley of Hallenberg—a view of the countryside once again; the sun rises early, and the suite is not air-conditioned.

Frequently Asked Questions About Rooms & Suites

The rooms facing the street are west-facing along the B 236—the hotel’s parking lot is right outside the windows, so it’s just a short walk to your car. The rooms facing the valley are east-facing, away from the highway; the view extends across the built-up Hallenberg valley into the countryside. Each room category includes its orientation in its name and can be filtered by that criterion above.

The valley side is the countryside side: to the east, across the valley, lies an active farm, with pastures, meadows, and the hills of the Sauerland behind it. Cows are a common sight in the valley here. If you enjoy country life, the valley side is the perfect place to live.

The ten rooms in the garden wing (2021) are air-conditioned; all other rooms are not. The filter will show you the appropriate selection with a single click.

Each of the ten rooms in the garden wing has its own balcony—facing the valley, with a view of the greenery. The "Balcony" filter in the overview takes you directly there.

We honestly rate every bathroom: "Simple (80s)" refers to bathrooms from the 1980s that are functional; "Classic-Modern" falls somewhere in between; and "Modern" represents the latest style in the home. The bathroom rating is the first icon in each category and can be filtered.

There are four single rooms to choose from: one in the main building facing the valley with a direct view of the outdoor pool, two in the mill wing facing the street, and our smallest room in the main building facing the street. Are you traveling alone and are the single rooms already booked? You can also book double rooms for single occupancy—some appear directly in the booking process when you select “1” for the number of adults; for the others, please inquire using our room request form.

For a third guest aged 16 or older: The Panorama Suite has space for an extra bed and can be booked for up to 3 guests. Some of the large "Lichtflügel" rooms can also accommodate an extra bed—please inquire, and we will personally check availability.

Almost every room has a box-spring bed—all double rooms have two mattresses, and all single rooms have one. The only exception is our smallest single room in the main building facing the street: it has a classic single bed (100 × 200 cm). The size specification for each category always refers to the smallest available size—you might find larger sizes, but never smaller ones.

In the Garden Wing, rooms 301 and 302 are accessible. In the Light Wing, room 125 is wheelchair-accessible—featuring a wheelchair-accessible sink, a grab bar by the toilet, a wide bathroom door, and a large, walk-in shower with a curtain. You can book room 125 upon request—with a guarantee that you will be assigned this specific room.

Good to know: Since July 2026, the rooms on the upper floor of the Mill Wing have had new numbers—213–220 have become 212–219. If you stayed with us before July 2026, your room number at that time is now one lower; the room search will notify you of this when you enter those numbers.
